long story behind this. Gamefaqs mild irritant MGPythagoras wanted me to send him a car. I told him that if a topic i started reached 500 posts in 24 hours i’d send him a car with a special custom made design. Well, i got modded for disruptive posting and the topic was deleted…. so, here’s the car i made. dunno what to do with it now.

The joys of modern electronics

Around 18 months ago I got meself a nice new HDtv, you know, to be all modern and stuff. Me, being slightly too excited about actually buying a HDtv didn’t engage the part of my brain that was trying to say "check the back of the tv, don’t take the store clerks word for it that it has has component sockets." Sound advice brain. sorry I ignored it. See I purchased this tv here…

The joy of this tv is that it has just 1 HDinput. yep, 1. A single solitary DVI socket. No component, no VGA and definatly no hdmi. Luckily for me, the tv started messing up. first it would power up but no image would appear on screen until the 3rd or 4th try and then the DVI socket decided it didn’t want to accept a DVI-D (digital) signal. So I called in on the warrenty I had and decided to ship that bitch off for repair.Now, under the warrenty rules it stated thatif the tv wasn’t reapired in 6 weeks I would either recieve a replacement or vouchers to get a tv to the same spec. Which essentially mean they stiff you on the value of the tv.

6 weeks ended today and I was all set to phone them up and give them a piece of my mind abotu my tv not being back. well I would have except for 2 things.

1) I didn’t want the tv back and had purposely not bothered to call them in the past 6 weeks making sure not to nudge them along.and

2) Just as I was about to call I got a letter containing the vouchers for the tv and remainder of the warrenty. Note; my tv cost me £1,050. The voucher for the tv came to £650 and the warrenty voucher was £111.

Naturally I went straight into town to get a new HDtv and luckily £650 now will actually get me more than £1,050 did 18 months ago. so i treated myself to a much better lovely Samsung 32" tv with an even lovelier selection of those all important HD sockets on the back. 3 hdmi, component, VGA and all those old fashioned connections like SCART and the truely retro RF.and it looks a little something like this

So dark. So forboding.Also, because I am a penniless leech on society (unhappily jobless for 7 months and counting!) I couldn’t afford the remaineder of a new warrenty so the kind chaps are Currys letme use the £111 voucher to buy a few treats. Treats I just couldn’t have afforded without these vouchers.
